A: I like to write, sing, dance, and read. In my spare time I'm usually catching up with friends, either via text or in person. I love to stay connected, and value that above many other things in life - making sure that someone knows I am there in the event I'm needed. Or that I cherish and value their presence in my life.
A: I'm usually reading a book (Sci-Fi/Fantasy), listening to music (whatever, typically something chill), driving around the city aimlessly or hanging with friends. I go out dancing fairly often, don't drink much, and can usually be found singing karaoke somewhere in the city at any night. I've recently thrown off the shackles of the 9-to-5 in search of something more fulfilling, after leaving a fairly high-paying job with the realization that I was chasing someone else's dream. So the sky is the limit for me, right now. :)
A: I am incredibly adaptable. I don't even typically think about it, I just shift my perspective or expectations into something new within a few moments and am just as anxious or eager for what's new as I was for the old. The amount of change I can enact in a 10min period can often confuse the hell out of someone, especially if they weren't there to witness any of it. I can leave you to go get a pack of smokes and come back with a pink/purple wig, a new friend, a fifth of whiskey, and am grabbing for your hand telling you about some party we're going to. Still no smokes though, hahah.
My energy isn't erratic, however - I absorb the vibe from others and shift my own accordingly, but tend to bring others around me to something more energetic naturally after enough time spent together. I specialize in making something of any moment, so as to leave a lasting impression. I also have a story for practically anything, and am always on the hunt for a new one to create.
A: I'm the kind of guy who notices much, either through subtle signs or otherwise quiet moments that one is unguarded but seemingly unnoticed. Through that, I usually will anticipate needs before they're spoken, or I have a penchant for dropping off a small gift or well needed something without comment. I love to come prepared and so if we dally more than once, I will likely return with something very specific that is sure to be a pleasure that you didn't know you needed or weren't sure I noticed you wanted.
Outside of that? Providing an authentically fun and present experience is my personal "extra mile" - I tend to be the guy at the party who makes eye contact with you after your story fell flat or got interrupted, letting you know I was listening and would love to hear the rest. I can inject life or humor into nearly any moment, and I am always down to do something weird or spontaneous if I have a partner-in-crime.
A: One of the best times I had was while in Laguna Beach with an Ex turned traveling lover. I was 20 and he was 35, and we had such a great chemistry and sexual energy. We parted on amicable terms due to relocation, and would often travel together and pick up where we left off.
On this occasion we were taking the trolley to downtown, soaking up the beautiful sun and feeling frisky, ready to take on the night. At a stop, there were two young skater kids that boarded. They stood in front of me, and at the following stop one of them nudged the other and whispered "is that the guy who sings?" and they whispered together. Once at the next stop, one shouted "SING!" to the 50-something African American trolley conductor.
What followed, was one of the most rich and beautiful versions of Edelweiss I've heard to date. Even more incredible, as I stood there surprised with a grin on my face, was the fellow passengers picking up the tune and singing along with him. I joined up, and together we sang Maria and Do Re Mi before my stop.
That, to me, is a pure moment of human connection. A beautiful moment where no one was better or different - we all just sang in harmony. It was incredible.
A: I want you to read these answers and get a sense that I am, at heart, an intelligent and mature near-30 year old man. My upbringing was incredibly tumultuous, but I feel it has shaped me into a pre-possessed and capable person who has empathy for just about anyone. I love being silly and irreverent, as I find levity in the face of difficulty allows you to still experience life even when being thrown around by it. I cherish being real and open with others, with connecting over the littlest things and building from there. The physical side of things can be so much more amazing when you feel free to laugh when you bonk heads or when you find that spot they mentioned and show them how good it feels to make them feel good.
A: The boyfriend experience - I am not afraid to be intimate with someone when I sense that is the need. Obviously it takes some time to get to that comfortable place, but I find I engender a sense of trust in people within a short period. I often wonder what it is that I do to warrant that trust, and asked a friend recently after explaining that someone asked me to watch their home for a week after meeting me only a few weeks prior. He said simply "it's how you carry yourself, the way you talk, your actions. You just give an impression of being a good and trustworthy person."
It's hard to accept that, I think, if only because as a human I am a tough critic of myself. But I would like to consider myself a good guy, and one who looks out for others. I want everyone to be happy and to have a good time, and will go out of my way to make sure someone gets what they need (if I do not sense they are the selfish and rude type).
A: I am struggling to answer this without seeming self-aggrandizing, so please forgive me ahead of time.
I believe in human connections, and cherish the beautiful feeling when you can set aside your own hang-ups or upbringing and really talk. I love to crack jokes, I make silly voices and have a pretty decent repertoire of accents I can do. Physically I'm energetic and limber, and I love a close and intimate embrace. I am a physical touch kind of guy, give a great scalp massage, and enjoy running my hands through chest hair. I'm incredibly expressive, using my face and hands and whatever else to emote my story. I also likely have a story or anecdote to share about nearly everything. As a final note, I am not too shabby of a singer and am usually humming or singing a different tune throughout the day. I don't know what else to say--I am always a good time :)
A: Diet is something I focused on a lot at this start of this year, and have lost around 50lbs since March. It was definitely a combination of a lot of things but I am so much more cognizant of the food I eat and how much I take care of myself. Good maintenance is just good sense!
A: I would love to engage in more travel - life hasn't afforded me much that isn't in the bordering states on the West Coast. I love new and exciting experiences, and if that involves travel then more the better.
A: I like to live without an agenda, which at times works to my detriment but honestly I love being able to just move along with the way the day goes instead of pushing through a current. I think otherwise I am definitely a night owl, and value a private space to call my own despite being largely an extrovert. I like to understand others, and to be understood - I think I value that trait above all else in a person - someone willing to explore and expand their wants and needs.
A: Music
A sense of humor
Good hair (vainglorious but honest)
A friend to talk to
Lube
A: I would try to explain to you that my need for genuine human connection is brought forth from living a life very a-typical growing up. I often find I seek out meaning in interactions with others as a form of reassurance that there's more to the world than just what we can see in front of us. The magic of a spontaneous moment where everyone suddenly connects on a deep level over something, is what I truly appreciate the most in this world.
A: I truly am difficult to offend, I love to sing and constantly am doing so at random moments, I have an incredibly glib sense of humor that is used typically to bring levity to serious scenarios, I really hate peanuts and peanut butter, I remain calm and effective in crisis situations, and I've never owned a passport.
A: The topless mermaid tattoo on my arm is actually a tribute to my mother. It sometimes catches people off guard, typically if they're ogling her breasts (the female artist really did give her some great ones). But when I was doing research on styles and inspirations, it made sense to me to not give her some lame seashells or form of cover that only shields modest attitudes and ignores that she was a woman, and women have breasts.
She passed away when I was almost 17, and 10 years after her passing I had her inked on my arm in the form of a mermaid to serve at the maidenhead for my ship. Protecting, guiding and otherwise keeping watch. The face is a portrait from her senior photo, and could not be more realistic.
I am proudly a mamas boy, and while her passing was the most difficult place I've ever found myself in - I think she would be happy that I am happy.
A: My capability in understanding other perspectives. It's something I have found immensely useful in life, to be able to listen to someone but remove your own sense of self and subscribe to another's in order to better grasp their emotions or frame of mind. This is larhely useful in conflict resolution, but makes for a powerful yet subtle way to show appreciation for someone and their efforts.
I can see the grocery store clerk bickering with her manager, and then later end up at her register. Her demeanor is calm but somewhat forced, she's overly polite and nice to her customers, but the small difficulties of technology or the slowness of the process triggers an over-reaction. Her restraint, despite her frustration, is something I can easily identify with and sympathize.
So when I walk up to pay, I disarm her with a joke and then offer sympathy for her difficult day. This opens a window for us to connect on a less-than-perfunctory level where she can feel heard, understood and appreciated. In the end our transactio hopefully helps to mentally bring her to a more postive POV.
I believe those moments are so incredibly valuable, when you can see another perspective and offer solace.
