RentMen:
If we sat on the beach and drank wine and ate great food just you and I, what would you tell me about yourself and your life?
ZMartell:
If we were sitting on a beach somewhere with good food, a bottle of wine, and nowhere to be, I’d probably tell you it’s time we both took a nap so we can stay out all night. I’ve never been very good at standing still.
I’m driven by curiosity. A new city. A new person. A challenge I wasn’t sure I could handle.
But after a while, I’d stop talking about myself and start asking about you.
Because if we’re sitting there together, watching the sun disappear into the water, I’d hope we’d both forget about the clock for a little while.
RentMen:
What are 5 things you can’t live without?
ZMartell:
A passport.
It represents freedom. The ability to move, explore, and reinvent yourself whenever life calls for it. Most of my favorite memories started with a packed bag and a one-way ticket
Sex.
I mean, I couldn’t leave it off the list.
Not just because it feels great, but because it’s one of the most fascinating parts of being human. Attraction, chemistry, power, vulnerability, desire, connection. This dance of dynamics reveals more about people than almost anything else.
Literature.
Books have given me a thousand lives I’ll never get to live myself.
Creative work.
Photography, writing, design, building ideas, learning new things. I need something that keeps me curious and gives me a reason to pay attention.
Intimacy.
Not just romance. Connection. Someone who can challenge me, surprise me, inspire me, and occasionally make me see myself differently. Surface-level has never interested me very much.
RentMen:
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like others to absolutely know about you?
ZMartell:
I’m confident, grounded, and comfortable taking the lead when the moment calls for it. Whether that’s a conversation, an adventure, or something more personal.
What I’d want people to know about me is that I’m genuinely interested in people. What motivates them, what excites them, what they’re afraid to admit they really want
I pay attention.
Most people are used to being looked at, not really being seen.
I think that’s probably one of the reasons people remember me.
RentMen:
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
ZMartell:
I’m not the type to sit in one place for long. I thrive on activities with a good ratio of challenge and reward, especially creative ones. Whether that’s exploring a new destination, learning a new skill, or disappearing into a project.
I tend to gravitate toward experiences that sharpen my edge or are immersive enough for me to become obsessed with. The best books are the ones that have you thinking about them as soon as you set them down, and still thinking about them a week after you’ve finished them.
Travel. Photography. Design. Writing. Anything that teaches me something new or shifts my perspective.
I’ve found that experiences become more meaningful when they’re shared. Otherwise, memories are just stories.
Some of the best relationships in my life were built around a series of questionable decisions that somehow turned into great adventures. I love looking back years later and laughing with a friend about the disaster you barely avoided that ended up becoming the best part of the trip.
I prefer traveling with a trusted accomplice or two, but I’m equally comfortable wandering off and finding trouble on my own.
